One fine holiday

Friends, food and a lovely weather were the big highlights of our Memorial Day holiday. We had Grandpa John, Uncle Eddie, and Aunts Amanda, Beth and Ann visiting and sharing some delicious BBQ prepared by dad. Here are Aunt Beth and Aunt Ann having a good time and chillin' with Bellinha.

Yes, we're still here!

Dear and valued readers, sorry we've been absent. Nothing new, just very busy, but we wanted to share an interesting article found on the Globe. It's worth reading, specially if you're a new mom/dad.

We're doing a little barbecueage today but we will come back with more videos and photos, because that's what you guys really want, we know! =)

Health update

  • Lil' Genghis is doing just fine in the arms of Vo Mineiro and Lucia.
  • Aunt Cady fell down and smacked her head on a floor, getting a concussion in the process. Uncle Joe tells us that the warning signs are a lot like freshman year of college: slurred speech, vomiting, dizziness, and the desire to dress your passed-out male roommate in a borrowed bra and blue eyeliner because he peed in your closet. Anyway, she should be fine, for which we're all grateful. The closet, well, let's not think about that.
  • Aunt Becky had a little health scare before she found out a virus was enlarging her spleen. She's off celebrating the good news now, helping to enlarge her liver. Just what the hell is a pomegranate martini, anyway? dad went to college with Aunt Becky and remembers the martini was two shots of gin for $3, compared to a horrible horrible vodka shot for $2.50. In other words, it was a cheap, fast way to get the party started. When the hell did something other than gin and a miniscule sampling of vermouth become something other than a martini? Geesh.

Oh, yeah. Congratulations to all three ladies on their good health! And a special nod to Aunt Becky's spleen, winner of the Most Obscure Organ Award in 2002, 2004, and 2007!

A fond goodbye

Today Isabella had her last day on the Great Beginnings class at Isis Maternity and there she met some of her first buddies. Hopefully they will remain friends for life, moms too, as we plan to keep getting together from time to time and see our babies grow. So here you see a picture and a short video. Goodbye fun-filled Tuesday afternoons with the bunch. We'll miss you!

More family, more photos!

Bellinha's getting a visit this week from Vo Mineiro and Lucia. mom's dad just seems to love holding her, then holding her some more, even as she sleeps. It's a pretty cool combination.

Yes, we could write anything here, though, including Uncle Rodrigo's credit card number, and you guys would still only care about the pictures. So, on that note, here are some of the first:

Lucia spent a week with some friends with her hometown; among the family's members is a little lady named, well, Isabella here, two Isabellas meet.

...

We also got a new photo of Isabella hanging out, which is available in full size. Dear Reader, if you want any of these photos in full resolution, just e-mail us the number that shows up, like IMG_4585, and we can get you the full version. We can only post so many photos at so many sizes without running outta room and resorting to selling Isabella's extra kidney for some spare server space, so we want to play it nice. Speaking of nice, yeah, here's that photo:

Heat wave

Spring is here and it sure feels like Summer. We had very high temperatures for the last three days, which got mom, Bellinha, boydog and girldog fighting for space in front of the fan.

Bellinha for the first time spent the day wearing just the bare basics and trying to stay cool.

We're glad that we're supposed to get really nice weather this weekend, when Grandpa Rinaldo and Lucia arrive to meet the young lass.

Lotsa photos!

Yeah, we could blog lotsa stuff for you to read, but we realize you guys don't even want the abbreviated version. You're just in it for the photos. It's true -- you don't even care that we can give you Uncle Rodrigo's PIN number for his ATM card. Fine. Be that way.

So, anyway, we gotta blog a bit just to say that Aunt(ie) Leeanne showed up to hang out with Lil' Genghis, which woulda been bloggable enough. But the other visitor was her dad, Great-Uncle Bill, who delighted in taking pictures of the little lady.

So, without further ado, the two real gems are from him:

(The photo includes our daughter and his)

dad shot the next couple, which feature Bellinha in her play gym and Aunt Leeanne coming to torture her. Or play with her. Something.

And mom took a photo or two amid all the bunch of videos she's been posting on YouTube:

A Flock of Seagulls

Aunt Beckynha sent us lovely gifts a few weeks ago and we were yet to post a picture of Isabella wearing one of the onesies that just says it all. That hair makes mom reminisce of times of old, a time of crazy (bad) hair, shoulder pads, leggings and the unexplainable legwarmers :P

By the way, the hair here was not done by dad. This is baby's actual 'do.

Updates

  • Cousin Savannah is doing the expected -- wearing her parents out already. Uncle Pat was having problems getting photos to friends and family, noting just eight minutes after midnight, "I'll try to fix that when I'm not loopy from a lack of sleep." Based on his own experience, dad is expecting those photos around 2011. =) Cousin Savannah is having her first (daily) birthday today. =)
  • Cousin Marcus, who had so much time poking boydog and sharing his Cheerios with girldog, was still barking yesterday. He'd left the dogs a couple of days earlier, but apparently they made a big impression on him. No word yet on whether Uncle Chris has changed his mind from getting his lad a cat to hang with. We can always grab a small box, poke a couple holes and get rid of boydog ...
  • Last, but certainly not least, we've got a big girl. Lil' Genghis got checked out by a doctor yesterday. Despite digestive problems, she's up to 11 pounds, 8 ounces ... at what dad vaguely remembers was at week ... seven? Maybe sixth. Anyway, the doctor's happy.
Looking ahead: Lil' Genghis is planning a trip to meet all her sweet relatives and friends, as well as Uncle Rodrigo, during Christmas. mom and dad are thinking they can't toss too much extra luggage on Grandpa John, so we started exploring getting some of the basic, consumable, heavy supplies in Brazil itself. It can be an early education for Lil' Genghis on the Brazilian mentality of economics, which stems from years of hyperinflation and great wealth disparities. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you can indeed buy diapers on a payment plan. When the hell would you pay them off?

New arrival!

... annnnnnnd in this corner, weighing in at 9 pounds 10 ounces, is Cousin Savannah!

Our best wishes to Uncle Pat and Aunt Sharon!
